- Scanning PIM Scan Bodies in Two Stages When MUAs Are Closely Spaced

📌What Is Two-Stage PIM Scanning? 

Divide the scanning area into sections based on where adjacent scan bodies interfere with each other.

 

📌When Is Two-Stage PIM Scanning Needed? 

  • When closely spaced MUAs prevent the full shape of each attached scan body from being captured clearly
  • When interference between scan bodies makes proper seating or recognition difficult

 

📌 Two-Stage PIM Scanning Workflow 

1. Attach and Scan the Initial PIM Scan Bodies 

  • To ensure scan body recognition, attach at least three PIM scan bodies.
  • Attach LQ Type scan bodies to the most posterior positions on both sides, then perform the PIM scan.

⚠️Precautions When Attaching Scan Bodies for Two-Stage PIM Scanning⚠️

  • Begin scanning before attaching anterior scan bodies that could obstruct the view.
  • Always attach the posterior scan bodies first and scan them. 
    - Attaching the anterior scan bodies first may make it difficult to attach and scan the posterior scan bodies.

  • Leaving out the two anterior scan bodies, attach only four PIM scan bodies and perform the PIM scan

2. Attach Additional PIM Scan Bodies 

  • Keep the scan bodies attached during the initial scan in the same position and orientation.
  • Attach the remaining scan bodies.

3. Final PIM Scan 

Capture sufficient scan data in each area, then scan the adjacent areas together to connect the data.
