1. Battery AttachmentĀ
To use FREEDOM i, a fully charged battery must be inserted inside the scanner.
Even when using a wired connection, a battery must be installed inside the scanner.
Ā
- How To Attach The FREEDOM i Battery:
- Rotate the battery cover 90° counterclockwise to remove it.
- When inserting the battery, make sure the positive (+) terminal is facing outward.
- After inserting the battery, reattach the cover to the scanner.
- Align the grooves on the scanner with the pins on the cover.
- Rotate the cover 90° clockwise to lock it back into place.

2. Connecting FREEDOM i To PCĀ
FREEDOM i connects to the PC via Wi-Fi communication.
When using a desktop PC, or when a laptop requires an additional internet connection, a wireless LAN card must be connected.
Refer to the instructions below for connection methods for both laptops and desktops.

Laptop Connection |
When using a laptop, FREEDOM i must be connected to the built-in Wi-Fi module of the laptop. Therefore, to use an additional internet connection, a wireless LAN card must be connected.
Follow the steps below to connect the LAN card to the laptop and connect FREEDOM i to the laptop via Wi-Fi.
An additional Wi-Fi device appears when the LAN card is connected. (Wi-Fi + No., e.g., Wi-Fi2, Wi-Fi6)
Disconnect the built-in Wi-Fi from all networks before connecting FREEDOM i.
- Make sure the wireless LAN card is connected, then turn on the scanner and launch ScanApp i through DOFSync.
- On the scanner connection screen, select the laptopās built-in Wi-Fi adapter, then choose the FREEDOM i you want to connect.
- Once the laptop and FREEDOM i are successfully connected, ScanApp i will switch to the scan screen. The scannerās connection status can be checked in the upper-right corner of the screen.
- The connection between the scanner and the laptopās built-in Wi-Fi can also be confirmed in the Windows 'Wi-Fi settings'.
- The laptopās built-in Wi-Fi must be connected to FREEDOM i, while the LAN cardās Wi-Fi should be used for other networks.

Desktop Connection |
When using a desktop, FREEDOM i must be connected to the Wi-Fi module of the LAN card installed in the desktop.
- Follow the steps below to connect the LAN card to the desktop and connect FREEDOM i to the desktop via Wi-Fi.
- The wireless LAN card is properly connected, the desktopās Wi-Fi function will be enabled, and the available channels can be checked.
- Make sure the wireless LAN card is connected, then turn on the scanner and launch ScanApp i through DOFSync.
- In the scanner connection screen of ScanApp i, select the Wi-Fi adapter of the USB LAN card connected to the desktop, and then choose the desired FREEDOM i.
- Once the desktop and FREEDOM i are successfully connected, ScanApp i will switch to the scan screen. The scannerās connection status can be checked in the upper-right corner of the screen.
- The connection status of the scanner and the Wi-Fi adapter of the LAN card connected to the desktop can also be checked in Windows 'Wi-Fi settings'.

3. FREEDOM i Wired ConnectionĀ
The wired connection of FREEDOM i is optional.
If the installed battery becomes low during scanning or if wired charging is required, you can connect a wired cable to continue using FREEDOM i.
Even when using a wired cable, a battery must still be installed inside the scanner.

- How to Connect via Wired Connection:
As shown in the image below, connect the power adapter and DP cable to the PSM, then connect the DP cable to the rear of the scanner.
Make sure to connect the DP cable and the scanner in the correct orientation as shown in the image below.
The Ethernet communication cable (No. 06) is currently not functional. The scanner will not connect to the PC when this cable is used.
Do not use this cable.

š FREEDOM i Using The D-PadĀ
Using the FREEDOM i's D-Pad during scanning allows for more convenient and hygienic scanning.

1. D-Pad IndicatorĀ
The operation of the scannerās D-Pad is displayed in real time on the D-Pad indicator in the ScanApp i program screen.

2. How To Use The D-PadĀ
Ā
- D-Pad Center button:
The center button of the D-Pad is used to control functions such as turning the scanner on/off, starting and ending scans, selecting tools, selecting notification windows, and saving additional data after processing is complete.

- D-Pad Left/Right buttons:
The left and right buttons of the D-Pad are used to move between scan stages and to navigate within the Tool bar.

- D-Pad Up/Down buttons:
The up and down buttons of the D-Pad are used to enter the Tool bar and to exit after using a tool.
