📌Laptop Power Connection
Always keep the laptop connected to power during scanning. Since the scanning software requires high performance, CPU and GPU usage increases, causing the battery to drain quickly.
Even if the battery is fully charged, the laptop must remain connected to power throughout the scanning process.
📌External Lighting Condition
If external lighting is too strong during scanning, interruptions may occur, reducing the accuracy of the data.
Make sure to turn off external lights, such as the dental chair light and loupe light, before scanning.
📌 Scanner Tip Mirror Condition
If the mirror of the scanner tip has smudges or contamination, it may affect scanning performance and data accuracy.
Before starting a scan, check the tip mirror. If contamination is found, remove it using a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.

📌Patient Intraoral Condition
Before intraoral scanning, check the patient’s oral condition. Excessive blood or saliva can affect the scan data, so blood and saliva must be removed prior to scanning.
Since the intraoral scanner captures the oral condition as it is, gingival isolation is required in cases with subgingival margins or unclear margins to ensure accurate margin data acquisition.
Common isolation methods include gingivectomy using a laser or the use of cord.

📌Scanner Tip Type Setting
FREEDOM i offers two types of scanner tip orientations: Normal and Lateral. Users can freely choose the tip orientation based on their preference.
When changing the tip type, make sure to also update the tip setting in the scan software’s Tool Bar.
| Normal Tip | Lateral Tip |
Field Of View(FOV): 14*12(mm) | |
| Recommended grasp: Palm grasp | Recommended grasp: Pen grasp |
1. Changing The Tip Type Setting In The 'Tool Bar'
Press the up button on the D-Pad or click the tool to enter the Tool bar, then adjust the setting according to the tip type.
The currently selected tip type is displayed in the upper-right corner of the scan software.
2. When the tip in use does not match the tip setting in the software
If the direction of the tip currently in use does not match the tip orientation set in the software, a shadowed or blocked area may appear on the left side of the live view screen during scanning, as shown in the image below.
This mismatch can cause issues such as interruptions or scanning errors.
📌Smart Filter Option
FREEDOM i supports the 'Smart Filter' function, which automatically removes unnecessary soft tissue during scanning.
The Smart Filter function must be enabled during intraoral scans.
If the Smart Filter is turned off, unnecessary soft tissue may not be removed during scanning, which can affect data acquisition and scan quality.
1. Changing The Smart Filter Setting In The 'Tool Bar'
Press the up button on the D-Pad, or click the Tool bar in the scan software to access the Tool Bar.
Then, adjust the Smart Filter option as needed.
📌Battery Insertion and Charging Status
1. Check Battery Insertion
To operate FREEDOM i, a battery must be inserted inside the scanner.
Before use, ensure that a compatible battery is inserted in the correct orientation inside the scanner.
Insert the battery with the negative (-) terminal facing inward and the positive (+) terminal facing outward.
